This article and video created by 9News in Colorado discusses a current project that a group of high school and college students are working on. The students are using various programs to create a 3D immersive version of Bent's Old Fort, a trading post on the Santa Fe Trail in Southeast Colorado. Bent's Old Fort is one of Colorado's most popular tourist attractions. This project will make Bent's Old Fort more accessible to people all over the world. It will also also people to tour and learn about the historical site.
The students start off by creating the historical site using Minecraft, a popular video game. Minecraft allows the students to create a 3D version of the structure with little detail. After creating the structure using Minecraft, the students will then use the architectural program, Autocad. This allows the students to create the site with much more detail as well as teaching them about the architectural and engineering program. The students will complete the project using Autocad 3D which is the newest and most detailed version of Autocad.
